House Quilt

So, I'm taking a big risk by posting these pictures here, but I'm so excited about this quilt, that I can't help myself! I hope my mom doesn't decide to read my blog within the next 3 days, because I want to surprise her with this when I see her on Thursday! I pushed myself to finish it because I really wanted to give it to her in person. Anyway, here it is...The House Quilt! :)

CUTE HAIR!!!

Joanna got her hair cut tonight! She's been wanting a chin-length bob for a while now. It's all trendy and stuff in kindergarten. ALL the girls have chin-length bobs, man. Her hair had suddenly grown like a mile long in 2 days (or so it seemed, anyway), and every morning was a struggle to get her to let me brush all the tangles out. I would tell her every morning, "Okay! Time for your FAVORITE part of the day! Time to brush your hair!". Woo hoo! Anyway, I decided to let her go for it, and it turned out so cute!! I love it!! I told her before she went, that if she got it cut that short there would be no more pigtails. No more braids! No more fancy athletic girl hairdo's! Her retort: "No more tangles!". Well, that sealed the deal, right there. No more tangles...but I am going to miss the fancy athletic girl hairdo's...

The Merry, Merry Month of May...

So, I realized that we've been doing a lot of things, but I haven't blogged about them yet, so I'm going to do a massive spam post of what we've been up to...including, but not limited to:

Happy Mother's Day gift from Nate made in Ms. Toni's preschool!

The computer wouldn't let me rotate this one, for some reason, but I'm including it because this was just so cute!

Crochet hat

I took a class the other day (courtesy of my neighbor) on how to crochet a kid's hat. I had so much fun, and it turned out really cute! The girl who taught the class had pre-made embellishments to purchase, but I thought, heck, I can do that, and I don't have to pay her $8 for two little flowers! So, I Googled "How to crochet a flower for a hat" and voila! Flowers! :)

It turned out really cute! Thanks, Jen for sleeping late so I could go to that class! I'll teach you how to do it right after we make your curtains. ;) I think I'll make one for Faith Olive, next!

Fun in the Kodiak sun!!

So, it's been pretty nice around these parts lately!! It was a much needed break from the doom and gloom. My neighbor and I got some crazy (not good crazy, either) news about the Munro's patrol, and with the weather being so icky, well, let's just say we NEEDED this sunshine. I had been feeling like I was living that movie "Groundhog Day", too. It just seemed like every day was the same. Same alarm going off at the same time, same apartment, same routine, same gray skies, SAME, SAME, SAME!!! Same = Lame. I felt like grabbing the kids and jumping the next plane to Timbucktoo and not even packing a suitcase.

The very next day after I was ready to jump on a plane to Tumbucktoo, we had gorgeous sun and no wind! Jen knocked on my door and said, "Wanna go to the beach?". Boy, did I!! We packed up and headed out. It was so refreshing and invigorating! The kids played and I soaked up as much vitamin D as my poor deprived body could absorb. It was great, and I don't even mind that I'm still sweeping up sand from various places. :) Here are some pictures of the fun!

Are they alive??
